Free…a choice.

Imagine making choices because you believe in yourself and in the power that God gives you.  Imaging fostering relationships with people out of a pure love, without conditions and looking for “what’s in it for me?”  Imaging taking chances on new things out of a sense of adventure and a desire to broaden your perceptions.  When we can live without fear…all of these things can be ours to experience.

Jesus spent a few short years here on earth, but in His time here, he demonstrated a fearless life.  Loving the unlovable, not concerning himself with how he would be seen; taking chances on people by teaching them strange and wonderful new views of a kingdom they had never seen or heard of.  He performed miraculous acts of supernatural power that amazed and humbled those who witnessed them, regardless of what they thought about Him.

There are many verses in the Bible that tell us not to be afraid.  Isaiah 41:10 (New Living Translation) states, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”  Another in Philippians 4:6 (NLT) says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”  And still in Matthew 6: 27(NLT), the Word asks the question, “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

All together, there are hundreds of references in the Word of God that instruct us not to worry or to be fearful.  Why is it so important to God that we not be afraid, or fret, or worry?  Surely if it is important to Him for us to live a fear-free life, it should not only be important to us, but it should also mean to us that it must be possible to live one.  So then, living free from fear must be a choice.

So, what do you choose?
