Free…a secret place.

One of my favorite chapters of scripture is Psalm 91.
It begins this way: “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” (Psalm 91: 1, 2 – Amplified)

God reveals the power of finding a place of relationship with Him and the benefits we can have if we seek Him.
As you read further in this Psalm, God promises that if you dwell in relationship with Him, He will deliver you from danger and disease. In verses 9, 10, and 11, it states: “Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels [especial] charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways [of obedience and service].”

Can you imagine the freedom of living without fear of disease or danger as we commune with God and find a secret place of refuge in Him?

Think about it.  Picture two chairs in a setting that you find tranquil and relaxing.  You are sitting in one chair and Jesus is sitting in the other.  As you both look out over the scenery of wherever you are (use your imagination to create your own tranquil setting), Jesus places His hand on yours and smiles at you.

He looks into your eyes and tells you, “I will always be here for you.  No matter what you are going through.  I am a place of serenity and peace for you.  I am a strong ally that will protect and preserve you.  I will help you in your bad times and I will rejoice with you in your good times.  You can always rely on me to be whatever you need me to be.  All I ask in return is that you trust me.  Your trust in me will cause mountains to be moved out of your way and crooked paths in your life to be made straight.  You and I together are an awesome team.  I love you so much, my child, my friend, my brother/sister…I will never disappoint you.”

As you return Jesus’ gaze, you become calm, unafraid and…free.  Find time to sit with the Lord and dwell in His secret place.  In it you will find freedom to live without fear.

Blessings…more posts to come.
