Free…in the Power of the Word

John 1: 14 “And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.” (Amplified Version)

As profound as this scripture verse is, the real impact of its content can only be revealed in a state of Christian maturity. Imagine the express majesty of the Almighty, Eternal God being contained in the limited physical existence and mortality of a man.  It is almost too hard to imagine.  But, in His endless, matchless love for us, God did indeed take mortal form in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus was fully God and fully man.  He, by His dying and resurrection, opened a passageway or bridge of reconciliation between us and God, our Heavenly Father.  Jesus did this so that we, God’s greatest creation, could return to Him in true relationship…the way God had always intended for our communication with Him to be.

As mature believers in the divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ, we too, must acknowledge that we are created in the human nature of Jesus.  But we must also come to understand that we are, if we are born-again, fully divine through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.  This means our lives are no longer shaped and guided by the finite restraints of the physical world.  Our lives are now, as we submit to the Holy Spirit inside of us, shaped and guided by the infinite resources of the Kingdom of God.

Our minds are capable, by the influence of the power of the Holy Spirit, of becoming like the mind of Christ.  Philippians 2: 1-11 speaks of us having the potential to have the “mind of Christ.”  It states:

Philippians 2:1-11 – New King James Version (NKJV)
” Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,  fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.  Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.  Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,  who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,  but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond-servant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Our issues are no longer decided by our natural state or our physical circumstances.  They are the express subject (property) of our spiritual nature, through our humbling ourselves and submitting all we are to the Holy Spirit within us.  So we become free in the realization that we are no longer bound by outside forces…no longer at the whims of the powers of the darkness in the world.  We operate and have our reality in the Kingdom of God.  Our lives are now the property of the God of Creation.

God gave His Son power over all things, as a result of His obedience, sacrifice and humility.  As stated above in Philippians 2: 9 ” Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name… ”  As we trust in Jesus, we become recipients of the power He was given.  We need to begin to acknowledge His power over all things, especially those things that hinder us from being in His presence, where we can receive the fullness of His Joy and be complete though His Peace.

The revelation of this power we have in the “Word made flesh”…our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ allows us to live in a new freedom.  A freedom that causes us to have faith in the divine nature of God to establish our benefits in Him.  In Psalm 103: 1-5, we are reminded not to forget all His benefits toward us.   His benefits reshape our perceptions of our own existence and transform us into the people He created us to be.  His benefits include redemption, healing, wisdom, grace, deliverance and unconditional love.  This passage in Psalm 103 (New King James Version) reminds us to meditate and receive the benefits God offers.  It says:

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

Our prosperity, health, finances, purpose and direction are not controlled by tangible things, as the world would like for us to believe, but by the divine influence of the Holy Spirit…left to us by Christ, who through His Shed Blood, completed our destiny to be fully human and fully divine and willed us the task to do “greater works” as stated in John 14: 12 (New King James Version):  “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

These greater works of the manifestation of the Holy Spirit through us is only possible as we receive the Word of God as the standard for our lives.  And as we live in the power of the Word, which came to free us from the bondage of a finite, dying world, we become an example of Jesus, the Word made flesh, to those we influence.  As we continue to live, based on the principles of the Kingdom of God through the Holy Spirit, we are no longer subject to the power of death, destruction and chaos.  We become what God created us to be…victorious; having dominion.  So no matter what our circumstances, situations or conditions look like in our natural, physical environment, we can acknowledge our freedom through the demonstrated power of God’s Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us and His Word as it impacts the issues of our lives.
When we continue to seek to put on the “mind of Christ” by receiving His Word, we elevate our thinking from what our humanity offers to the amazing benefits of Almighty God and the divinity He placed in us through the Holy Spirit.

Though we will encounter trials and tribulations as we live our daily lives-because we are human, we can rest in the freedom that as we trust in the divinity that  Jesus imparted to us through His Holy Spirit, we have faith that we are empowered to face each new day, and every new challenge as we progress to new levels of wisdom and understanding in God…because of the power of His Word.

Let this revelation prompt you to pray for the power available to you through God’s Holy Spirit as you meditate in His Word.  Allow your heart to be His dwelling place and watch Him guide you into new levels of relationship with Him and give you the freedom to live as He intended for you to.  More next post…

Blessings…VW1
