My Word.

Daily writing prompt
What is one word that describes you?

Steadfast.

Through all the storms and calm in my life, I remain diligent, thorough…steady. Though at times my knees may be shaking, eyes watering and snot running, I am always in “10 toes down.” Facing adversity, bullies or loss, I stay until the job is done. I was raised by depression-era parents who weathered poverty, wars, segregation and more, and I was taught that you NEVER run away from a fight. What you do is bear down, put your dukes up and fix your face like flint. Then you ride out the storm (hopefully, learning from the experience). Do that, and victory is yours.

Being steady is absolutely not always easy to do nor is it an easy trait to have. Trust me, I have the battle scars to prove it. But with so much change and instability happening in the world, being steadfast and resilient has and always given me the opportunity to withstand and rise above trouble and heartache. It has allowed me to grow in areas of my life that needed to be developed and given me a real respect for rest and peace.

What I have learned is that God is always going before me…guiding and correcting my path. He loves me enough to use all the fall-out of the events in my life, good or bad, to make me better, faster, stronger.

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].
1 Corinthians 15:58 (Amplified)
