What book could you read over and over again?

I loved C.S. Lewis’ The Screwtape Letters. It was my first Lewis book. As a new Christian at the time, this story fascinated and terrified me.
Without spoilers, it tells the story of a young demon-in-training by his uncle, who is a more powerful and experienced demon. The uncle writes devious directions to his young charge, explaining the ways of saved and unsaved souls and which tactics to employ.
The book was an excellent introduction for me into the strategies of the devil and his cohorts towards those of us who are believers in Jesus Christ. It exposed, in literary prose, how the kingdom of darkness views its plans and purposes for us mortal souls. It was a great read…filled with frightening but thought-provoking revelations.
Here is one of my favorite quotes from this book:
“Do not be deceived, Wormwood. Our cause is never more in danger than when a human, no longer desiring, but still intending, to do our Enemy’s (God’s) will, looks round upon a universe from which every trace of Him (God) seems to have vanished and asks why he has been forsaken and still obeys.” -Uncle Screwtape
Heady stuff. But I learned so much about how our enemy (Satan) works and it took away much of the fear I had about serving God.
I suggest reading it. Once you get past the nightmare fuel…you may become more confident in your walk with God, as I was.
