Free…to be Still.

We are bombarded everyday with new tragedies, conflicts and terrors.  We live in an age of “war and rumors of war”(Matthew 24:6).  Violent weather, vicious terrorist attacks, horrific crime and more are becoming commonplace occurrences in our daily lives.  We watch media reports on 24 hour shifts and are overtaken by negative, frightening stories which may cause us to lose hope.

But…

Don’t lose hope.  Because we serve a God who is able to render the universe captive.  We serve a God who is greater than any force of nature or any conflict of humankind.  He wants us to trust Him.  He wants us to believe Him.  He wants us to let Him be Who He is in our everyday lives.

When Moses asked God whom should he tell the Israelites sent him,  “God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you.’” (Exodus 3:14 – New International Version, NIV)

The message God was sending to Moses, and to us…He is ALL we need.
Through Him our lives and everything that concerns us is complete.

When your life seems filled with trouble, when you begin to believe the media’s negative hype or that your difficult situations and circumstances have gotten the best of you…open your Bible to Psalm 46.  I have posted it here for your convenience.
Read it.
Meditate on it.
Believe it.
Trust it.
And…Be still and know that the Eternal God of the Universe loves you and has your days in His Powerful Hands.

Psalm 46 (New International Version)

God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.

10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.”

Be blessed today, my friends…and know that GOD is in control.

Until next post,
