America, the Beautiful…

We are facing difficult times.  As a nation, we are under attack.  The physical atrocities are obvious manifestations of the danger our nation is in, but there is a greater threat…the breakdown of our spiritual wellness is under siege as well.  Our only answer is…God.  Psalm 46 (KJV) speaks to us with this encouragement:

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.”

Let’s remember the fallen and wounded in both Boston and Texas…as well as the host of other victims of tragedy we have mourned over and cared for as we bow our heads and humble our hearts toward Almighty God:

Heavenly Father, Our nation needs Your presence.

Our cities need your Angels of protection from crime, destruction, mismanagement and decay.

Our children need You back in their classrooms.

Our government needs Your divine wisdom, intervention and direction.

We, as the people of this fair, treasured nation, need your grace, your forgiveness, your purpose.

Lord, forgive us for our selfishness and restore our hearts back to you.

Deliver us from our immoralities, our disinterest in each others’ concerns, our insecurities.

Teach us to love as you do.

Impart to us your compassion so that we rally around one another in good times as well as bad.

Lead us, Father God, into the destiny You have prepared for us.

Love us, lift us and carry us on all the days ahead.

We will forever give You the praise and the glory You so richly deserve. In Jesus’ Name.

Amen.
