What’s something you’ve done that you never thought you could?

I absolutely love being a mom. It has been the single most rewarding thing that has ever happened to me. And for all the accolades I would lay hold of to describe it, I would be absolutely remiss if I didn’t mention that children DO NOT come with instructions.
When I first began this journey of motherhood, I was excited and terrified…everyday. Did I do the right thing? Is my baby okay? The many times I would go into the nursery to check if she was breathing when I should have been resting too…
As my children got older, the challenges got greater and the doubts that I was a good mommy did too. I loved them so much and wanted so much for them as they grew and became their own little people. But sometimes even when I believed things were going well, there would be times I would be afraid I wasn’t doing enough…or worse, I wasn’t doing it right.
“Train up a child in the way in which he should go, and when he grows old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Over the years, as a mother to three adult children now (and Mimi to a new grandchild), I have learned that parenting is absolutely not an exact science. It is good to have nurturing love and support and a compassionate plan of discipline and correction, when needed. I have also learned that trusting your heart-felt instincts to lead you in the right direction is usually the best approach, but reaching out for help when you become stretched thin and don’t have all the answers is the best advice I can offer. Parenting is a responsibility best shared by a loving community of family and friends.
My doubts of being a good parent have been fading as I now watch my child become a parent and witness the love, care and nurturing given to my grandchild. And I now know that, although parenting is an amazing journey, for sure…it is not for the faint-hearted. 💕
Blessings…vw1.
