Do you practice religion?

I grew up in a religion where I didn’t have any real understanding of the Bible or an intimate relationship with the Lord.
I followed the doctrine of that religion and never questioned the teachings given. But as I grew older, I felt that, at least for me, something was missing. Now I know, it was Jesus.
I’ve been a born-again Christian for most of my adult life but have gone to several churches over the years, practicing what is called religion. I have found that religion is important to help us develop structure and foundation for our beliefs, but does not replace relationship with Christ. No matter what church building I may go into, my relationship with Jesus is the source of my living. He is the truth that I need. He is the love that I long for. He is the help that I call on.
Religion is not what I put my trust in. It is human-focused looking toward God. I put my trust in Jesus. This is Holy Spirit-focused looking inward with God.
