What fears have you overcome and how?

Getting over the fear of putting myself online was crazy work. It still feels a bit overwhelming. Whether it’s a post uploaded or a video edited…the nerve racking wait to see if anyone would even care enough to “like” it was a BIG BUTT trauma for me. The feeling of potential rejection became the reason I quit…about 10 times. I would start something, put my heart and soul into it, only to have 1 or 2 views or “likes.” It was murder on my self-esteem.

I put down the keyboard and left the camera and tripod in the corner of my room. I couldn’t take the scrutiny. I felt like a loser. Couldn’t take the heat. Shortly after that time, I went through the toughest season of my life. A season that almost broke me…emotionally, spiritually and physically. My priorities shifted from always looking outwards to mainly looking inwards. And this change in my heart and my perspective moved my “pucks given” attitude to “no pucks given.” And as light-hearted as I make this sound, the power that we hold as humans to be creative and purposeful and productive should be our inward honor to God and not an outward attempt for others’ approval.

So I write blogs because I love it and hope that it blesses somebody. I am now putting a YouTube channel together because I have something to contribute…to whoever wants to receive it. I am not motivated by clicks, “likes,” or followers. I am motivated by compassion, truth and wisdom. Three things I have gained a bit of in my 6 decades living on this planet. If I can help, inspire, educate, or cry with just one person through my online presence…then my effort is worth it.

Whatever you are afraid of…face it. Then walk away and do the thing that fear is trying to steal from you.

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Blessings…vw1.
